Chapter History

In the early spring of 2008, Lisbeth Vazquez became interested in Sigma Lambda Gamma because of her sister, Jossie Vazquez; a sister from the Epsilon Beta Chapter at the University of California, Irvine. From this experience, as well as with encouragement from various sisters, Lisbeth Vazquez decided to found a chapter at UCSB.

After learning more about Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., an interest group was formed and became known as Ladies of Distinction on the UCSB campus on October 2, 2008. On March 7, 2009, Ladies of Distinction were recognized as a colony of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc.

On August 15, 2009, the Founding Line of the UCSB Colony was crossed with the help of Diana Medina, Ingrid Garces, and Maria Mayo. These women were Melanie Guillen, Patty Monroy, Marta Castro, Jessica James, Amalia Mejia, Lisbeth Vazquez, Angelica Gonzalez, Rosemary Rangel, Krystal Martin, Vanessa Robles, Laura Vivar, and Ayesha Wallace.

On April 17, 2010, the colony of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority at UCSB officially became recognized as the EnvieD Epsilon Delta Chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma.
