Diamond In The Sky

Maribel "Zarielah" Franco
Maribel was an ambitious, passionate, loving, charismatic young woman with the most charm and love for everything that she did. Our sister always had a smile on her face, and effotlessly lit up any room she walked into. She was caring and always put others before herself. Maribel graduated UCSB with a degree in Chicano Studies and was working on obtaining her masters from CSULB in hopes of becoming a counselor for underprivileged youth.
We love and miss you so much Maribel.

"Thinking of Maribel brings me tears of joy because of how much she impacted my life for the better. She guided me as a freshman, introduced me to our sisterhood & welcomed me with open arms amongst her friends who are now family & my biggest support system. She helped mold me into the Empowered Woman of Distinction I am today. For all this I owe her the world & more. She was one of the most humble and selfless people I have ever met; Her love, radiance, & compassion never went unnoticed. She would illuminate whatever room she walked into; positively impacting the many lives of those who were around her. Words alone would never be enough to describe her. But if you were to ask me to name a role model in my life, it would be my Gamma Mom. Maribel was truly one in a million."

"One of my favorite memories of Maribel was during her last quarter here at UCSB when she was working on her final paper during finals week; she had pulled an all-nighter the night prior and had drank multiple energy drinks. You could physically see her drive and eagerness to complete her assignment, this was the beginning of her experience for her masters program. She was passionate, motivated and always eager go out there and complete her mission, which was to help low income minorities at the high school level and a dream of her that will continue to live through our chapter. My ADean was truly a beautiful, inspiring individual and I will always cherish our shared memories. I love you my diamond in the sky!"
